Donated Art Collection

Did you know that one of the largest hospital art collections in Michigan is located right here at Spectrum Health?
The power of fine art to engage our thoughts and soothe our spirits is demonstrated every day at Spectrum Health and Helen DeVos Children's Hospitals. Pieces from the donated art collection create a healing environment for patients, visitors and staff alike.
This extraordinary collection of more than 1,400 original pieces is a tribute to the generosity of numerous donors, and a testimony to the human need for beauty and inspiration during times of crisis.
A painting or sculpture that captures the essence of a flower, the grandeur of a landscape, or a moment of inspiration in an artist's creative thought can also capture the heart and mind of an observer. This distraction from worry or anxiety to a gentler, less stressful time or place provides healing rest and relief for an overburdened mind.
Contribute to this growing collection
We welcome donations of fine art or funds to purchase additions to the donated art collection. Your tax-deductible donation could be a thoughtful memorial or tribute to a family member, professional peer or a community leader.
Since the works we acquire are often in desperate need of restoration, contributions to the Restoration Fund are also greatly appreciated.
To take home a sampling of the collection, notecards featuring the paintings of Roy Gamble, Reynold Weidenaar and Mathias Alten are available for purchase from the Junior Guild in the hospital gift shop.
